We are not short of interesting visitor attractions in and around the Angus Glens. Museums, castles, gardens, distilleries and more are all waiting to be explored. In addition to all the outdoor activities on offer, such as walking, cycling, fishing and golf, there are plenty of wonderful visitor attractions in the area. We have several villages and towns within an hour’s drive, all with their own unique charm and plenty of attractions and experiences. From our local town of Kirriemuir to the vibrant city of Dundee on the Firth of Tay.
Kirriemuir is our closest town, around a 30-minute drive away. In Kirriemuir, as well as the Gateway to the Glens Museum, you will find the Birthplace of J.M.Barrie, creator of Peter Pan, which is owned by the National Trust for Scotland. Other Kirriemuir attractions include Tayside Police Museum and one of the very few working Camera Obscura in Britain.
Just a little further down the road, the village of Glamis is well worth a visit. Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the late Queen Mother, is a magnificent building in a superb setting. We also have some nearby distilleries, the nearest of which is The Gin Bothy in Glamis, a four star Visit Scotland attraction where the gins are still infused by hand. Or if you prefer vodka, visit Ogilvy Distillery to find out how Scottish potatoes are tranformed into vodka.

Lovely hotel, comfy modern rooms, beautiful food in the bar area, excellent breakfast and very well located for exploring the Cairngorms, every member of staff we encountered were friendly and couldn’t do enough to help you. Overall fantastic, would definitely stay here again.

Sat/Sun will be takeaway filled rolls, teas/coffees – 8am-10am then daily service (pre-bookings advised) from 12.30pm onwards.
Please also note that on Wednesday 29th January the hotel will be closed due to staff training.
Our hotel will also be closed for our annual maintenance from Monday 17th February through to Wednesday 12th March. The hotel, restaurant and bar will be closed during this period, however our lodges will remain open.
